Durga Prasai remanded to 12 days in custody (with photos)

The commander of the violent royalist protest, Durga Prasai, and his bodyguard have been produced before the court.

Prasai and Deepak Khadka of Buddhashanti Rural Municipality of Jhapa have been arrested and produced before the court on charges of vandalism and arson attacks carried out during the royalist protest held in Tinkune, Kathmandu on March 28.

The police had sought a 12-day remand through the government attorney for investigation. The bench of Kathmandu District Court Judge Shishir Raj Dhakal has granted permission to keep them in custody for 12 days.

Prasai, the kingpin of the Tinkune incident, who fled after inciting the protestors to become violent, was arrested from Assam, India on Thursday. Prasai, who was brought to Kathmandu today, will be investigated on four charges including an attemted to murder.
