Binod Chaudhary, chairman of Chaudhary Group and Member of Parliament, held a meeting with billionaire philanthropist and Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates in Singapore on the sidelines of the Philanthropy Asia Alliance 2025 (PAA-2025).
During the discussion, the two leaders exchanged views on key challenges in Nepal’s healthcare and employment sectors. Chaudhary expressed gratitude to the Gates Foundation for its long-standing partnership in Nepal, particularly through the Baliyo Nepal (Strong Nepal) campaign, which supported earthquake recovery (2015), COVID-19 relief, and child nutrition programs.
The meeting also explored expanding the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s collaboration in Nepal’s social sector, including potential adaptation of successful global health and employment initiatives.

The Chaudhary Foundation, the group’s social arm, has been actively involved in post-earthquake reconstruction, building 3,000 temporary shelters, rehabilitating schools, and distributing essentials. During the pandemic, it supported Nepal’s health infrastructure by establishing ICUs, oxygen plants, and supplying PPEs, PCR kits, and N95 masks across all seven provinces.
Gates, a key speaker at PAA-2025, leads one of the world’s largest philanthropic organizations, supporting health, education, and technology in developing countries. The Singapore event saw participation from global leaders, including Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, and UNDP Assistant Secretary-General Susan Brown.
The conference aimed to foster collaborative philanthropy for sustainable development and social justice in Asia. Chaudhary’s engagement highlighted Nepal’s growing role in global philanthropic partnerships.
