The two-day comprehensive free health camp will be conducted at Tehrathum District Hospital in Myanglung under the joint collaboration of the Nepal Medical Association (Kathmandu), Myanglung Municipality, and Tehrathum Sarokar Samaj on May 24 and 25.
The organizers have informed that the camp will run from 9 AM to 5 PM on May 24 and from 9 AM to 11:30 AM on May 25. Under this initiative, citizens of Tehrathum suffering from various illnesses will receive free health check-ups, medicine distribution, and possible treatment facilities, as stated by Tehrathum Sarokar Samaj Nepal, one of the organizers.
Announcing the large-scale free health camp, Myanglung Municipality Mayor Sanjay Tumbahamphe said, "Specialist doctors from Nepal will conduct health examinations for patients, provide medical advice, and distribute medicines free of cost. Local municipal chiefs will arrange transportation for patients to and from Myanglung, while Sarokar Samaj will manage the travel of doctors and health workers from Kathmandu to Myanglung."
Similarly, the Nepal Medical Association (NAM) will provide health check-ups and free medicines, while Myanglung Municipality will arrange food and accommodation, the mayor informed. During this two-day health camp, specialist doctors from BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (Dharan), Bharatpur Cancer Hospital (Chitwan), and TU Teaching Hospital (Kathmandu) among others will conduct health examinations and provide possible treatments. Tumbahamphe shared that this might be the first such program in the history of Tehrathum district.
This camp will offer services in various specialties, including cancer, heart disease, kidney disease, ENT (ear, nose, throat), orthopedics, gynecology, pediatrics, dermatology, diabetes, thyroid, eye care, dental, neurology, and mental health.
Over 100 doctors and health workers from major hospitals in Kathmandu, Bharatpur, Bhaktapur, Biratnagar, and Dharan will participate in the camp.
Program coordinator Haripatilal Shrestha has urged local citizens, media, and concerned authorities to cooperate in making the camp a success. He said, "This camp is a great opportunity for rural patients. Everyone should take advantage of it."
Thus, this health camp is expected to play a significant role in improving healthcare access for the people of Tehrathum.
This is the first program jointly organized by the Nepal Medical Association (Kathmandu), Myanglung Municipality, and Tehrathum Sarokar Samaj Nepal.
Tehrathum Sarokar Samaj Nepal was established in 2063 BS with the objective of fostering mutual goodwill and cooperation among Tehrathum brothers and sisters living in the Kathmandu Valley.
