Nepal Bank located in Khadak Municipality-7, Kalyanpur, Saptari, has been robbed.

The theft occurred between 12:20 AM and 3:00 AM on Friday, according to Saptari Police Spokesperson DSP Gyanendra Kumar Basnet.

The bank's security guards—39-year-old Pramod Chaudhary from Shambhunath Municipality-7, Bhagaha, and 44-year-old Parshuram Chaudhary from Kanchanrup Municipality-5—were asleep in the bank's guard room when the theft occurred, Basnet informed.

Stolen items include a 12-bore gun kept in the guard room's drawer, 20 rounds of ammunition, two motorcycles, a digital weighing scale, and a bag. The guards themselves reported the incident to the local police office at around 3:30 AM after discovering the theft.

DSP Basnet clarified that no cash was stolen. During preliminary interrogation, the arrested individual claimed that another person had instructed him to steal the guard's weapon, promising him money in return.

A team led by a Police Inspector was immediately mobilized from the Area Police Office, Kalyanpur, Saptari. Additionally, details of the theft were circulated via police communication sets to the District Police Offices of Saptari, Siraha, and other districts. CCTV footage of the suspects was also shared by the police.

One person suspected of involvement in the theft was arrested near Hospital Chowk in Lahan Municipality-3, Siraha. A team dispatched from the Area Police Office, Lahan, at 3:45 AM apprehended 20-year-old Apsad Ansari, a resident of Khadak Municipality-6, Birpur, during a routine check.

Basnet stated that various items were recovered from Ansari, including the stolen weapons and ammunition. He was initially held at the Area Police Office, Lahan, and has now been taken to Kalyanpur along with the recovered items.

Among the seized items were two computer scanners, two laptops, two khukuris, two watches, five mobile phones, and a digital weighing scale. The stolen firearm was found hidden in a bush about 500 meters west of the bank.

For further investigation, an additional team led by a Deputy Superintendent of Police has been deployed from the District Police Office, Saptari.
