Two siblings killed in gas explosion in Kapilvastu

Two people have died in a gas cylinder explosion in Kapilvastu.

The deceased are 24-year-old Shiva Kumar Yadav and his younger sister Sonam Yadav, 18, according to the District Police Office, Kapilvastu.

"The brother and sister died after the gas cylinder went off while cooking food at Suddhodhan Rural Municipality-5, Jayanagar on Sunday night," said Chief of DPO, Kapilvastu, SP Niranjan Datta Bhatta, "Critically injured brother and sister had been taken to Jayanagar, India after a preliminary treatment. They breathed their last on the way to Jayanagar."

Their bodies have been kept at Bhim Hospital in Bhairahawa for postmortem. The fire has also caused some damages to the house.

The police said they are carrying out investigation into the incident.
