Minor girl killed, seven injured in Kalanki school van accident

A minor girl has died and seven others sustained injuries when a school van met with an accident at Kalanki in Kathmandu.

The electric school van met with the accident after it rammed the pillar of the school gate of Edify International School at Kathmandu Metropolitan City-14, around 12:50 PM today.

Nine-year-old Sonakshi Yadav of Sarlahi, currently staying at Kuleshwar, has died. Critically injured minor girl breathed her last in the course of treatment at Sahid Memorial Hospital at 13:36 PM, informed SP Apil Raj Bohara of Kathmandu District Police Range.

The injured are Reshma Moktan of Lalbandi-8, Sarlahi, Neshiya Thapa, 9, of Ramechhap, currently staying at Swayambhu, Nikisha Dangol, 9, of Kirtipur, Simran Khadka, 11, of Makwanpur, currently staying in Kalanki, and Premisha Gharti Magar, 9, of Gulmi, currently staying at Kalanki.

They are receiving treatment at National Hospital in Kalanki. Similarly, school headmaster Suraj Pokharel, 46, of Tanahu, currently staying at Kalanki and van driver, 60, Harka Bahadur Karki of Dhanusha, currently staying at Kalanki, sustained injuries.

Pokharel and Karki are undergoing treatment at Bayodha Hospital in Balkhu, SP Bohara told Nepalkhabar.
