The Kathmandu District Court has ordered the release of Rabindra Mishra, senior vice-president of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), on a bail of Rs 300,000. Mishra, accused in three charges related to his alleged involvement in the Tinkune protest, appeared in court voluntarily on Tuesday.
After recording his statement, a single bench of Judge Taradevi Maharjan set the bail amount and issued a detention release order. Earlier, RPP General Secretary Dhawal Shamsher Rana was also released on a similar bail. Both are among 50 individuals charged with crimes against the state, criminal misconduct, and organized crime.
Meanwhile, Durga Prasai and six others, accused of inciting violence, have been remanded to custody. Other defendants were released on bails ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 100,000. Mishra had previously been released by the Supreme Court during investigations but appeared in court after others’ detentions were extended.
The case stems from a pro-monarchy protest in Tinkune, Kathmandu, on March 28, where Mishra was present. A total of 65 individuals, including four minors, face charges in connection with the incident.
