Limbu-language film 'Che' has won the Best Film award along with the Best Director Award at the ‘Fifth Nepal Indigenous Nationalities Film Festival, 2082.
The three-day festival, held from June 20 to 22, 2025, honored Sagar Kerung, the lead actor and director of the Limbu film 'Che', as the ‘Best Film Director'. Around three dozen films in various languages participated in the festival.
Che, which vividly portrays how modern politics encroaches on indigenous burial grounds, will be screened in Hong Kong and South Korea on August 17, Director Sagar Kerung said.

The festival was inaugurated by Defense Minister Manbir Rai. Minister Rai also honored senior Film Director Nabin Subba and Producer-Director Rajkumar Rai for their outstanding contributions to the indigenous film industry.
Extending his congratulations, Mr Dinesh DC, Chairman of the Film Development Board, shared that the term "indigenous" has been removed from film policies and laws. He underlined the need to strongly raise this issue in Parliament and build pressure for its reconsideration.
Earlier, in the Third Indigenous Nationalities Film Festival in 2019, Limbu film 'Ke', which was directed by Sagar Kerung, had also won the Best Film Award.
