Local residents affected by the 40-meter river setback rule in the Kathmandu Valley have staged a demonstration at Maitighar Mandala on Thursday.
They gathered at Matighar in Kathmandu shouting slogans, "Scrap Extra-Judicial Unconstitutional River Setback Rule."
The Supreme Court on November 16, 2008 had issued a 20-meter river setback rule and the 40-meter setback rule on December 19, 2023.
The KMC had issued a notice directing the concerned to implement the Supreme Court's mandamus to implement the 40-meter river setback rule.
The affected residents have been staging demonstrations since the KMC issued the notice.
