Nepali youth team has inched closer to the ACC Men's U-16 East Zone Cup title with a victory over home team Malaysia in the semi-final.
Nepal reached the final for the fourth time by defeating Malaysia by 9 wickets in the first semi-final.
Nepal reached Malaysia's modest target of 91 runs in 11.4 overs losing 1 wicket. After the second wicket, openers Parimarjan Yadav and Shiwansh Bajgai formed an unbeaten partnership of 75 runs in 45 balls, allowing Nepal to comfortably reach the target.
Parimarjan remained unbeaten on 59 runs, while Shiwansh scored 23 not out runs. Parimarjan struck 5 fours and 5 sixes off 35 balls. The other opener, Prasiddha Jaishi, was caught out for 2 runs.
Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the toss at the Selangor Turf Club in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday morning, Malaysia was all out for 90 runs in 43.1 overs.
Muhammad Fathul Muin's 38-run score was the highest for Malaysia, while Captain Diaz Patro added 10 runs. None of the other batsmen could reach double-digit runs.
Nepal's Abhay Yadav took the highest 4 wickets conceding only 15 runs. Deadly bowler Shubham Khanal took 3 wickets including 4 maiden overs, giving away 12 runs. Bipin Sharma and Sachin Bhatt took one wicket each.
Nepal will now face the winner of the second semi-final for the title. In the second semi-final, Hong Kong and Singapore are currently locking horns.
