Defending champions Argentina have marched into the final of the FIFA World Cup 2026 after pulling off a thrilling comeback victory against England in their semi-final clash at the Atlanta Stadium.
England took the lead in the 55th minute when Anthony Gordon found the back of the net, giving his side a crucial 1-0 lead. However, the Three Lions failed to hold onto their advantage, ultimately crashing out of the tournament in the penultimate stage.

The turning point came late in the second half, orchestrated by captain Lionel Messi. In the 85th minute, Enzo Fernández capitalized on a brilliant pass from Messi to level the score at 1-1.
The drama peaked in stoppage time. Just two minutes into extra time of the second half, Lautaro Martínez struck the decisive match-winner, once again assisted by Messi, to seal a dramatic 2-1 victory for the South American giants.
With this win, the 2022 world champions have secured a spot in their second consecutive World Cup final. Argentina will now face Spain in the blockbuster final, while England are set to take on France for the third-place playoff.
