The Chitwan National Park has installed a radio collar on Dhrube, a violent elephant which is believed to have killed 25 people in the national park and buffer zone, by using a dart gun last night. Then, the elephant was released in the national park area.
Information Officer of the Chitwan National Park, Abinash Thapa Magar, said that the radio collar is fixed to monitor the violent elephant. Before its release, the tusks of Dhrube were also trimmed.
Thapa Magar shared that information Dhrube could be tracked in a short period of time and his activities could also be observed through GPS tracking.
A team of Nepali Army, technicians of the Chitwan National Park and the National Trust for Nature Conservation fixed the radio collar on Dhrube.
The National Park had upped the surveillance to search for Dhurbe for ten days after it trampled 25-year-old Ashika Bote and her four-year-old son Bharat Bote in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-23, Chitwan.
It took 10 days to take Dhrube under control due to an unfavorable weather condition and dense shrubs there.
