Six Armed Police Force (APF) personnel sustained injuries in a clash with smugglers in Dhanusha district.
Four APF personnel have fired four rounds of fires in self-defense.
"Six police personnel sustained injuries during a clash with smugglers that occurred at Bedeha Municipality-2, Gobarahi, informed DSP Shailendra Thapa, the deputy spokesperson of AFP, Nepal.
Smugglers opened fire on the team of AFP personnel while they were heading toward Gobarahi area after being tipped off that smuggled goods were being hoarded.
No sooner had the security personnel reached the place than more than 150 smugglers attacked them with domestic weapons, according to the police.
Six police personnel were injured in the clash with the smugglers. In response, the police personnel fired 13 rounds of teargas shells and four rounds of shots into air.
The injured police personnel have been taken to Provincial Hospital, Janakpur, for treatment.
