The Nepal-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NGCCI) and Nepal Center UK jointly organized the Nepal-UK Investment Summit at the House of Lords, London, to explore trade and investment opportunities between the two nations.
Expressing his views at the summit held on July 2, Sushil Gyewali, CEO of Investment Board Nepal (IBN), highlighted Nepal’s growing appeal for foreign investors, particularly in hydropower, tourism, and infrastructure. "Nepal has made significant progress in simplifying investment procedures and offering incentives," Gyawali said, urging British investors to capitalize on these opportunities.
Similarly, Baroness Verma emphasized Nepal’s strategic location between India and China, calling it an ideal investment hub. Meanwhile, Nepal’s Ambassador to the UK, Chandra Ghimire, assured full diplomatic support, stating, "We are committed to facilitating serious investors and ensuring sustainable growth."
While UK-based entrepreneurs praised Nepal’s reforms, some raised concerns over implementation challenges. The event also featured success stories, including fashion designer Sanyukta Shrestha, and concluded with plans for a UK trade delegation to visit Kathmandu later this year.
Organized by NGCCI President Santosh Chandra Koirala, the summit reinforced Nepal-UK economic collaboration, with hopes for increased British investment.
