Russia carried out a massive aerial attack on Ukraine's capital Kyiv, killing one person and injuring 26 others, according to Ukrainian officials.

The assault, which took place on Friday, involved 539 drones and 11 missiles, causing significant damage to infrastructure and civilian settlements.

The strikes occurred shortly after a phone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky strongly condemned the attack, accusing Russia of demonstrating its unwillingness to end the war.

"Russia has once again shown that it has no intention of stopping this war," Zelensky said in a statement reported by the BBC. He called on Ukraine's allies, particularly the United States, to impose further sanctions on Moscow and increase military support for Kyiv.

The latest escalation highlights the intensifying conflict between Russia and Ukraine, with international leaders urging restraint while condemning the attacks. The US and European nations are expected to discuss additional measures in response to the assault. (With inputs from news agencies)
