The Nepal Teachers' Federation has strongly objected to a promotional song recently released for the upcoming Nepali movie Maastarni, demanding the filmmakers immediately take it down. In a joint press release issued on Friday morning, Federation President Laxmi Kishor Subedi and General Secretary Tula Bahadur Thapa stated that the song severely damages the dignity of female teachers and the teaching profession.
"Our serious attention has been drawn to the promotional song recently released for the movie Maastarni, which is scheduled for release on August 21," reads the press note. "The song, containing indecent words and suggestive undertones targeted at female teachers, strikes a serious blow to the dignity of teachers and the education profession. Therefore, we urge the concerned parties to immediately withdraw the song and not use it in the film. Should this song continue to run, the filmmakers and involved artists will be held solely responsible for any unfavorable consequences."

The controversial track—written, composed, and sung by Durgesh Thapa alongside singer Babina Kiratee—has recently gone viral on TikTok and Instagram Reels. However, it has faced swift public backlash for its double-entendre lyrics and suggestive dance choreography.
Choreographed by Pradip Lama, the music video features popular actors including Priyanka Karki, Aryan Sigdel, Durgesh Thapa, and Ayushman Joshi. Directed by Subendu Ghosh, the film Maastarni is co-produced by Priyanka Karki Joshi, Ayushman Joshi, Cabinet Shrestha, and Pranit Karki, and is scheduled to hit theaters on August 21.
