Eleven people have gone missing after a flood swept through the Bhote Koshi River in Rasuwa district on Tuesday morning.
A sudden massive flood in the Bhote Koshi River caused significant damages at Timure, in the Rasuwa Gadhi customs area, according to Dhruba Prasad Adhikari, the assistant Chief District Officer of Rasuwa.
"Eleven people who were staying inside the vehicles parked in the dry port of the Rasuwa Customs Office have gone missing in the flood," he told Nepalkhabar. "We are carrying out rescue and search operations for those missing in the flood. The process of assessing the damage is underway."
The flood also washed away the Miteri Bridge, located at the Nepal-China border checkpoint, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Hem Bahadur Shahi, chief of the Rasuwa District Police Office.
Police suspect that the flood was triggered by heavy rainfall in the Tibetan region. However, it has not yet been confirmed whether the flood was caused solely by rain or other factors.

The floodwaters swept away vehicles parked in the Rasuwagadhi customs area and goods stored for customs clearance.
"We have received reports that some people may have been swept away by the flood. Search operations are underway," DSP Shahi told Nepalkhabar. "The exact extent of the damage is still unclear, but it is substantial."
The sudden flood occurred in the Bhote Koshi River around 3 AM this morning.
Shahi reported that the flood washed away dozens of vehicles parked at the Rasuwa dry port and customs area, including several EVs (electric vehicles).
