The bodies of seven people missing in the Bhotekoshi floods have been recovered after floods triggered by incessant rains wreaked havoc in Rasuwa district this morning, the police said. However, they are yet to be identified. Twenty others remain out of contact, the District Police Office, Rasuwa said.
Among the missing are three police personnel, six Chinese nationals, and 11 civilians. Rescue operations are ongoing, and 55 people have been safely rescued so far.
The most severely affected areas by the floods include Gosaikunda Rural Municipality (Wards 1, 2, 3), Aamachhodingmo Rural Municipality (Wards 1, 2, 4, 5), Uttargaya Rural Municipality (Wards 2, 4, 5), and Kalika Rural Municipality (Ward 1).
The floods have also swept away the Miteri Bridge connecting Nepal and China. Additionally, an EV charging station has been completely destroyed. The police reported damage to the customs office and transport yard. The dam of the Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Project has also been damaged.
Likewise, the Gosaikunda-Pasang Lhamu road has been blocked. The police stated that the road section is slippery, and vehicular movement has come to a grinding halt from Dhunche to Timure.
