Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has unveiled an estimated budget of Rs 25.76 billion for the upcoming fiscal year (FY) 2025/26.
Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol presented the estimated income and expenditures of Rs 25 billion 764 million 341 thousand during the 17th convention of a Municipal Assembly held at Rastriya Sabhagriha this afternoon.
Dangol said the budget includes Rs 650 million allocated for external liabilities while the city expect to generate Rs 25.11 billion through its internal revenue and existing bank balance.
Rs 25 billion, 114 million, 341 thousand will be deposited in the consolidated fund, said Dangol. Of this, it is estimated that a total of NPR 20 billion, 126 million, and 400 thousand will be collected through the internal revenue of metropolis and bank deposits.
Additionally, Rs 4 billion, 987 million, 941 thousand will be received received from the federal and province governments as the conditional and equalization grants and revenue sharing.
The KMC has proposed allocating 3% of the total budget (Rs 753 million, 430 thousand) for economic development and 20% (Rs 5 billion, 22 million, 868 thousand) for social development.
Similarly, 51% (Rs 12 billion 808 million 314 thousand) has been allocated for the infrastructure development while 12% (3 billion 13 million, 721 thousand) has been allocated for good governance.
Likewise, 14% (Rs 3 billion 516 million 8 thousand) has been proposed for office operations and administrative expenditures, according to the budget unveiled today.
In the previous FY 2024/25, the KMC had presented the budget of Rs 24.9 billion.
