In a landmark move aimed at enhancing academic-industry collaboration and promoting Lumbini as a global center for peace and tourism, the Nepal-India Chamber of Commerce & Industry (NICCI) and Lumbini Buddhist University (LBU) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The agreement was signed on Sunday at the NICCI Secretariat in Naxal by NICCI President Mr. Sunil KC and LBU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Subarna Lal Bajracharya. The MoU outlines key areas of cooperation including the promotion of academia-industry alliances, facilitation of internships and job placements, joint research and innovation initiatives, knowledge exchange, joint study and publication, and collaborative efforts to position Lumbini as a world peace destination, according to the press note jointly issued by NICCI and LBU.

Speaking at the MoU signing ceremony, Prof. Dr. Bajracharya shared his vision to transform Lumbini into an international academic and spiritual hub. He highlighted ongoing efforts to attract 22,000 international students to LBU and noted that a master plan, including course development and infrastructure construction, is already underway. He emphasized that the collaboration with NICCI will be instrumental in connecting with Indian diplomats, scholars, and business leaders to realize this vision.

NICCI President Mr. Sunil KC underscored the Chamber's commitment to fostering bilateral cooperation between Nepal and India. He expressed enthusiasm for future collaborations under the MoU, particularly in the areas of research, innovation, entrepreneurship development, tourism promotion, and joint academic-industry programs.

This partnership marks a strategic step toward aligning academic resources with industry expertise to contribute to national development and elevate Lumbini’s global stature.
