Indra Baniya elected NC Bagmati Province PP leader with 22 votes; 1 vote invalid

Indra Baniya has been elected as the Nepali Congress Bagmati Province Parliamentary Party (PP) leader.

In the elections held on Wednesday, Baniya received 22 votes to become the PP leader while 14 lawmakers backed Bahadur Singh Lama. One vote was declared invalid. There are 37 lawmakers of Nepali Congress.

Earlier in the division of votes held on Tuesday, 15 lawmakers had backed Lama. Twenty-two lawmakers of Baniya faction had cast their votes in favor of the no-confidence motion. The no-confidence motion was passed based on majority of votes.
