Heavy rainfall likely in one or two places of five provinces

The Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) has predicted that the weather will remain generally cloudy throughout the day and night, with chances of rainfall in various parts of the country.

According to a weather bulletin issued by the Division at 6 AM today:

Today
The weather will remain generally cloudy across the country. Moderate rainfall is expected in many places in the hilly regions of the country and in some parts of the Terai, including Madhesh Province. Additionally, heavy rainfall is likely in one or two places in the hilly regions of Koshi Province, Bagmati Province, and Gandaki Province, as well as in the Terai regions of Lumbini Province and Sudurpaschim Province.

Tonight
The weather will remain generally cloudy across the country. Moderate rainfall is expected in many places in the hilly and Terai regions of Madhesh Province, Koshi Province, Bagmati Province, Gandaki Province, and Lumbini Province, as well as in some places in the hilly and Terai regions of the remaining provinces. Heavy rainfall is also possible in one or two places in the hilly regions of Koshi Province and the Terai regions of Madhesh Province, Koshi Province, Lumbini Province, and Sudurpaschim Province.

The Division has used the term "day" to refer to the period from 6 AM to 6 PM and "night" to refer to the period from 6 PM to 6 AM the next day.

According to meteorologists:
•             Light rainfall refers to less than 10 mm of rain within 24 hours.

•             Moderate rainfall refers to 10 to 50 mm of rain.

•             Heavy rainfall refers to 50 to 100 mm of rain.

•             Very heavy rainfall refers to 100 to 200 mm of rain.

•             Extremely heavy rainfall refers to more than 200 mm of rain.
