Lama group to give confidence vote to Chief Minister Baniya

Newly appointed Chief Minister of Bagmati Province, Indra Bahadur Baniya.

Former Chief Minister Bahadur Singh Lama is set to give the vote of confidence to newly appointed Chief Minister of Bagmati Province, Indra Bahadur Baniya.

An agreement to this effect was reached during a meeting of parliamentary party a while ago.

Lama had dillydallied to give Baniya the confidence vote demanding that two lawmakers from his faction be appointed as the ministers in the latter's cabinet.

The Lama group finally agreed to give the confidence of vote after Baniya expressed commitment that he would appoint the two ministers from his faction after receiving the vote of confidence.

Nepali Congress has 37 lawmakers followed by CPN (UML) with 27, CPN (Maoist Center) 21, Rastriya Prajatantra Party 13, CPN (Unified Socialist) 7, Nepal Workers and Peasants Party 3, and Hamro Nepali Party has 2 lawmakers in the 110-member Bagmati Province Assembly.

At least 56 lawmakers are required to secure the vote of confidence.
