John Wingle, deputy vice president of the US grant assistance project Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), has paid a courtesy call on Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Deepak Khadka.
During the courtesy meeting on Wednesday, Minister Khadka expressed gratitude for MCC’s support in the development of Nepal’s energy sector. He praised the cooperation extended for the MCC project.
Minister Khadka expressed confidence that with the start of the MCC project, high-quality transmission lines will be constructed. It will help Nepal achieve its energy development goals. Meanwhile, he emphasized the need to strengthen bilateral relations and move forward for the effective implementation of the MCC project.
MCC Deputy Vice President Winger requested Minister Khadka's assistance in facilitating land acquisition and resolving issues related to forests for the smooth implementation of the MCC project.
The meeting was attended by Energy Secretary Suresh Acharya, joint secretaries of the ministry, and other high-ranking officials.
Deputy Vice President Wingle, who oversees Millennium Challenge Corporation's operations in Europe, Asia, the Pacific and Latin America, arrived in Kathmandu on Monday.
