Visiting Indian External Affairs Secretary Vikram Misri has formally invited Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli for an India visit.
During the meeting with Prime Minister Oli at the latter's office in Singha Durbar this afternoon, Foreign Secretary Misri handed over an invitation letter to Prime Minister Oli on behalf of the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, according to the Prime Minister's Secretariat.
"During the courtesy meeting with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, External Affairs Secretary Vikram Misri handed over an invitation letter from the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, to Oli. Prime Minister Oli thanked him for the invitation," the Prime Minister's Secretariat told Nepalkhabar.
During the meeting, they discussed the issues spanning from the exchange of high level visits to the bilateral relations and mutual interests.
The Indian side has proposed the September 16-17 for the Prime Minister Oli's India visit. However, the exact dates of the visit have not yet been fixed. It is learnt the schedule would be made public based on mutual understanding of the diplomatic channels between the two countries.
Misri, who arrived on a two-day official visit to Nepal this morning at the invitation of his Nepali counterpart Amrit Bahadur Rai, paid courtesy calls on President Ram Chandra Paudel, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', Foreign Minister Dr Arzu Rana Deuba and Foreign Secretary Rai.
Misri will return home on Monday, wrapping up his two-day visit to Nepal.
