Nagarik Unmukti Party (NUP) Chairperson Ranjita Shrestha has dismissed Ganga Ram Chaudhary as the parliamentary party (PP) leader.
After terminating Chaudhary as the PP leader, NUP Chairperson Shrestha has informed the Federal Parliament in writing regarding his termination.
"The Parliamentary Party leader of NUP, Ganga Ram Chaudhary has been removed from his position for violating the party rules. He was sought a clarification for breaching the party rules. However, after finding his answers not satisfactory, he was terminated as the PP leader as well as the party office-bearer," reads the letter sent to the federal parliament," Since the position of PP leader remained vacant, the party chairperson herself took charge of the position as per the decision of the party."
Meanwhile, Chairperson Shrestha, in the letter, has requested the Speaker to record the new details of the PP leader in accordance with Section 25 of the Political Parties Act, 2017.
The letter has also been sent to the Federal Secretariat and the Election Commission of Nepal.
