The identity of the young woman's body found in a suitcase at Gaur in the district headquarters of Rautahat this morning has been established.

The body has been identified as Ravi Kumari Sah, married to an Indian man from Muzaffarpur, India, from Madhav Narayan Municipality-2, Rautahat, DSP Raju Karki of the District Police Office, Rautahat confirmed.

Locals had spotted a large suitcase in suspicious condition near the gate of Divyajyoti School located on the Gaur-Sirsiya road section in Gaur Municipality-9, last night.

Although the locals had informed the police immediately, the police only opened and checked the suitcase this morning.

"We kept the incident site secure throughout the night. On Sunday morning, the police deployed under my command opened it and found a body inside," DSP Karki told Nepalkhabar. "We have called her maternal family to the District Police Office. Further investigation into the incident is underway."

Police suspect the woman was strangled to death and then her body was placed in the suitcase. "However, it is yet to be ascertained who killed her and why," DSP Karki said.
The body has been kept at Gaur District Hospital for postmortem.

Locals said Ravi was married to an Indian man in Muzaffarpur, India. However, she had been staying at her maternal home, of late. Her maternal home is at Mahadevpati in Madhav Narayan Municipality-2, Rautahat. Nothing has been revealed so far regarding her relationship with her husband.

Locals had informed the police around 9 pm on Saturday about the suspicious suitcase found near the school.
