Vice President Yadav and his Vietnamese counterpart discuss trade, tourism, hydro and investment

Visiting Vice President of Vietnam, Vo Thi Anh Xuan, and the Vice President of Nepal, Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav, have held a meeting on Sunday.

According to the information shared during a joint press conference held after the meeting, the two leaders discussed various topics ranging from trade to investment, hydropower to tourism, and cultural cooperation in the meeting held at Hotel Yak & Yeti in Kathmandu this morning.

Joint Secretary Prakash Adhikari, the Chief of the Southeast Asia and the Pacific Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the talks involved comprehensive discussions on Nepal-Vietnam relations and international cooperation.

The both sides expressed their commitment to bolstering friendship, goodwill, and bilateral relations. The talks also touched upon high-level visits, cultural and religious cooperation, enhancing air connectivity to promote tourism, as well as increasing collaboration in the fields of trade, investment, and digital transformation, Adhikari added.

Matters discussed during the meeting
Both sides maintained that the Nepal-Vietnam relationship is based on friendship and goodwill. As Nepal and Vietnam celebrate the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic ties, it an opportune time for them to further advance their bilateral relations. Among the main points discussed during the meeting was an agreement to exchange high-level visits between the two countries.

Similarly, discussions also took place regarding the cultural and religious similarities between the two countries, and how Buddhism acts as a bridge in the relationship between both nations, highlighting the ample potential for promoting religious and cultural tourism.

The topics in the meeting also ranged from air connectivity to promote tourism, Vietnamese investment in Nepal, trade, and digital transformation.

Similarly, an agreement was reached to further strengthen people-to-people relations and to further solidify the shared perspectives of both countries in international diplomacy.

Likewise, detailed discussions were held regarding the problems faced by Nepal due to environmental issues, particularly the challenges brought about by climate change.
