PM Oli flies to China on a five-day official visit

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has embarked on a 5-day official visit to China at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The Prime Minister left for northern neighbor on a flight of Himalaya Airlines at 7 am to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit to be held in Tianjin, China from August 31 to September 1.

Prime Minister Oli is accompanied by wife Radhika Shakya, Minister for Education, Science and Technology Raghuji Pant, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Badri Prasad Pandey, former Deputy Prime Minister and MP Purna Bahadur Khadka, former Minister and Economic and Development Advisor to the Prime Minister Dr. Yuba Raj Khatiwada, former Minister and MP Chhabilal Bishwakarma and high-ranking officials of the Government of Nepal.

Prime Minister Oli is scheduled to hold meetings with heads of various countries, including Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin, during the visit.

The Summit, which will be inaugurated by Chinese President Xi Jinping, will be attended by heads of state and government from 20 countries, including 10 full members of the SCO, and heads of 10 international organizations.

After participating in the SCO Summit, Oli will head to Beijing to attend the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

After completing the visit and programs, Prime Minister Oli will return home on September 3, wrapping up his China visit.
