The newly appointed Inspector General of Nepal Police (IGP) Chandra Kuber Khapung has been awarded the insignia.

Home Secretary Gokarna Mani Duwadee conferred the insignia on IGP Khapung at a program organized at the Home Ministry on Thursday morning.

He is preparing to go to the Police Headquarters, Naxal, today and assume office as IGP of Nepal Police.

The government had appointed Khapung, the senior-most police official, as the 32nd Inspector General of Nepal Police on August 29.

The outgoing IGP Deepak Thapa retired on Wednesday.

Khapung will retire in the next two and a half months on the ground of a 30-year service limit.
