Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chandra Kuber Khapung has called on the entire Nepal Police force to prioritize national duty and citizen service over personal gains, signaling a new era of accountability and professionalism.

IGP Khapung, who was welcomed at the Police Headquarters amidst a ceremony after receiving an insignia at the Ministry of Home Affairs, delivered his first directive to officers and personnel across all ranks. Khapung, in his speech, emphasized that long-term organizational growth and prestige depend on positive thinking, proactivity, and a sense of responsibility from the leadership down to the grassroots level.

"As the main organ of the criminal justice system, Nepal Police has been present as the state’s first representative nationwide," stated IGP Khapung. He underscored the force's role in crime prevention, control, investigation, peacekeeping, traffic management, and disaster management. He stressed the critical need to maintain public trust through courteous conduct and behavior, ensuring citizens have faith in the Nepal Police.

The police chief outlined his priorities, focusing on a more effective response to complex and organized crimes surfacing on social media, including financial crimes, cybercrime, drug trafficking, and human trafficking. "For this, the development of skilled human resources, training, and management of technology is my priority," he said.

Announcing a strict performance-based evaluation system, IGP Khapung committed to ensuring career advancement and opportunities are tied to work performance, professional efficiency, and loyalty to the organization. He issued a stern warning against non-professional activities, declaring a "zero-tolerance policy" against erring personnel.

The event was attended by senior officers at the headquarters and virtually by the heads of provincial police offices, training centers, and district police offices across the nation.
