We banned unregistered social media platforms as per govt direction: WorldLink

Internet Service Provider (ISP) WorldLink said it has put a ban on the social media platforms that have not been registered in Nepal.

Issuing a press note on Friday morning, WorldLink said it has banned the unregistered social media platforms in line with the direction from the Nepal Telecommunication Authority.

"Our company has received an instruction from the Nepal Telecommunications Authority in line with the mandamus from the Supreme Court, the cabinet meeting and Social Media Directive, 2023 BS to ban unregistered social media platforms," World Link said in a press statement, "We hereby by inform all the customers that the unregistered social media will be deactivated."

The inconvenience caused to the customers due to deactivation will be highly regretted, WorldLink said in the press note.
