UML's Second Statute Congress concludes with commitment to lay foundation for socialism

The second Statute Congress of the CPN (UML) concluded on Sunday. The Statute Congress, which took place for three days at the Sunrise Conference Center in Godawari, Lalitpur, passed the political report, proposal for statute amendment, organizational report, and four reports from the central bodies.

The political proposal presented by party chairman KP Sharma Oli, the statute amendment proposal presented by vice-chairman Bishnu Prasad Paudel, and the organizational proposal presented by general secretary Shankar Pokharel were unanimously passed, according to the UML's publicity and publication department chief Rajendra Gautam.

Similarly, reports presented by Amrit Kumar Bohora, Chairman of the Central Advisory Council, Keshav Badal, Chairman of the Central Disciplinary Commission, Dr Pushpa Kandel, Chairman of the Central Audit Commission, and Dr Bijaya Subba, Chairman of the Central Election Commission from their respective bodies were passed.

Ten groups were formed to discuss three documents and seven reports at the convention and to present suggestions.

According to the party's publicity department chief Gautam, there were in-depth discussions mainly on the political report, statute amendment, and the organizational report. After the discussions, team leaders from all groups presented their suggestions.

After the group presentation, Chairman Oli responded to the queries raised in the political report. While answering the questions raised by the representatives on the report, Chairman Oli stated that the people's multiparty democracy was the guiding principle that shows the way to the country in every aspect.

It is the guiding principle, and under its guidance, we are preparing the foundation for socialism and moving forward, Oli added.
