Sheetal Niwas has been caught in a dilemma over either to appoint Sushila Karki as the Prime Minister of Nepal by dissolving the parliament or do so only after removing constitutional hurdles, even though an understanding has been reached on her name.
The process of appointment has been stuck due to disagreements over the fate of the Parliament, according to a Sheetal Niwas source.
Representatives of the Gen Z are piling pressure on the President to dissolve the parliament arguing that the path for the formation of an interim government would not be paved unless the parliament were dissolved.
President Ramchandra Paudel on Thursday held consultations with constitutional experts, top leaders of major political parties, and the Speaker. Constitutional experts suggested, "The President, who is the guardian of the Constitution, reserves inherent rights to give a constitutional outlet to such a political crisis."
Sheetal Niwas was making preparations to remove constitutional hurdles through the caretaker government and proceed with it's the direction.
The President has been in a dilemma either to move ahead by dissolving the parliament or seek a solution in accordance with the current Constitution, for the fear that the dissolution of the parliament would result in various challenges.
Due to this reason, Karki's appointment as the prime minister has been delayed. The President is holding consultations with various stakeholders even today in a bid to find an outlet to the current stalemate.
