Death toll from Ilam floods and landslides hits 18

The death toll due to floods and landslides induced by downpour in Ilam district has climbed to 18.

According to the Koshi Province Police Office, Biratnagar, 18 people have been confirmed dead so far and the number of deaths is still rising.

Five people have died in Manebhanjyang of Suryodaya Municipality-1, Ilam. Three people died in Patigaun of Mangsebung Rural Municipality-1.

Police reported that one person died in Dhore of Deumai Municipality-1, and two others also died at Dhusune in Deumai Municipality-5.

Similarly, one death was confirmed at Ratmate in Phakphokthum Rural Municipality, and six deaths were confirmed in Ghosgaun of Ilam Municipality, according to DSP Dhruba Kumar Shrestha, Information Officer at the Provincial Police Office.

The poolice, further, stated that a Nepali Army team has been deployed to the incident site to rescue two people, including a pregnant woman in Mangsebung Rural Municipality-1.
