Four Deputy Inspectors General of Police (DIGs) of the Nepal Police have been promoted to Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG).
A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Thursday decided to promote the four police officers to the vacant AIG positions. The Promotion Committee meeting held on September 28 had recommended their names.
The DIGs promoted to AIG are Sushil Singh Rathore of the Administration Department, Uma Prasad Chaturvedi, Madhesh Province Police Chief, Himalaya Kumar Shrestha, working at the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), and Sudurpaschim Province Police Chief Dambar Bahadur BK.
The Promotion Committee had recommended them for promotion based on seniority. All four of the newly promoted AIGs had initially joined the National Investigation Department (NID) in 2053 BS and later been transferred to the Nepal Police. Siddhi Bikram Shah from the same batch had already been promoted to AIG.
They will now be assigned the responsibilities of the Operations Department, Crime Investigation Department, Administration Department, and Provincial Coordination Department at the Nepal Police headquarters. These departments are currently headless.
