Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Jagadish Kharel, has said efforts are being made to start the registration and renewal of online media from the Department of Information and Broadcasting (DIB).

Addressing a program after carrying out an inspection visit of the DIB today, he instructed the department to facilitate and provide service facilities for the registration and renewal of online media, as many journalists had to face difficulties in this regard.

Communications Minister Kharel said, "This registration process will probably progress before Tihar. The department is fully prepared for that. Many people are currently facing hassles to register and renew. The department will soon provide facilitation and service facilities."

He stated that it took some time since he took charge of the ministry to address the procedural adjustments required due to the monsoon-related disaster and Dashain festival, and assured that once decisions are made in the upcoming cabinet, the registration and renewal process would progress immediately after being published in the Nepal Gazette.

Minister Kharel mentioned that unlike other government agencies, one does not experience delays at the Department of Information and Broadcasting. It being an office directly connected with the public and journalists, it has been providing necessary assistance to all service recipients in facilitating legal procedures, he added.

"The services and facilities you provide, and your behavior towards the service-seekers plays an important role for journalists and the public. Despite limited resources, means and manpower, the department has been providing good service delivery. The cabinet has made a decision with the desire that online renewal should start from here," the Minister for Communications and Information Technology said.

He stated that the current government has the responsibility to conduct the election to the Member of the House of Representatives and to pursue works in a manner that ensures good governance.

The Minister also expressed the government's determination to investigate the damage to public property that took place during the Gen-Z movement, to proceed with the punitive process, to advance works that yield results in the bodies under the ministry, and to make every possible effort to lay the foundation for a speedy and simpler service delivery in the future.

Secretary at the Ministry, Radhika Aryal, said that the ministry is positive about addressing issues related to online media registration and renewal as well as other demands of journalists.

Director General of the Department, Uday Bahadur Ranamagar, shared that the department is working for the rights of and facilitation to journalists. (RSS)
