The District Administration Office, Kathmandu has granted permission to keep three youths 'associated with the TOB' (Tibetan Original Blood) group, who are accused of participating in the Gen Z movement with weapons, in custody for additional six days.
According to SP Pawan Bhattarai, spokesperson for the District Police Range, Kathmandu, the police are proceeding with further investigation after taking permission from the administration on the charge of indecent behavior.
The police took the extension of the detention period on the charge of indecent behavior from the administration itself after they did not immediately find any strong evidence to support the claim.
Their photos and videos showing them with weapons during the Gen Z movement had been made public. Following the release of their pictures, the members of TOB themselves appeared at the police office on Sunday and claimed that the weapons were fake and that the incident was old. The police have also not been able to confirm that the incident is recent.
For now, the detention period has been extended only under the charge of indecent behavior, with the possibility of escalating the charge accordingly if evidence is gathered later.
