An Indian national who landed at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu from Thailand has been arrested by the police after marijuana was found in his bag.
The Narcotics Control Bureau of Nepal Police this morning recovered 2.8 kilograms of marijuana inside a chocolate packet at TIA and took 57-year-old Hari Chhetri, a resident of Kolkata, West Bengal, India, into custody.
According to Narcotics Control Bureau spokesperson Superintendent of Police Durga Raj Regmi, Chhetri, an Indian national, had arrived in Nepal from Bangkok, Thailand on Thai Airways flight No TG 309. The bureau said that the investigation revealed that the seized marijuana was being transported from Thailand to Kolkata, India via Nepal.
The police have also seized his passport and mobile phone. The Narcotics Bureau said that further investigation is underway in the drug case against the arrested Chhetri.
