President of Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba has become public for the first time following the Gen Z movement.

Deuba along with his wife and former Foreign Minister Dr Razu Rana Deuba has reached the Central Party Office in Sanepa today. He is taking part in the Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting scheduled for today in Sanepa.

Earlier, Nepal Tarun Dal, youth organization of Nepali Congress had staged a motorcycle rally. However, it was intercepted by the police at Tripureshwar while it was heading to Sanepa. The flags held by the youth participants of NC were snatched away.

"We intercepted the rally as we were not informed about it beforehand. We let them go after receiving details of the rally," Spokesperson of Kathmandu District Police Range Office, SP Pawan Kumar Bhattarai said.

Deuba couple were badly assaulted by protestors and their house based in Bhudhanilkantha was set ablaze during the Gen Z movement on September 9. The central party office in Sanepa was also burned down.

There is a growing voice within Nepali Congress calling for a transfer of leadership. General Secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwa Prakash Sharma are demanding a Special General Convention while the establishment faction is for the regular General Convention.

The Gagan Thapa faction has already collected 51 percent of signatures of General Convention representatives to this effect.
