An inmate who had escaped from Bhimphedi Prison during the Gen-Z movement has been murdered. The escaped inmate, Narayan Kumal, was killed in Gaindakot, East Nawalparasi, after being attacked with a sharp weapon.
According to the police, 28-year-old Narayan Kumal of Padampur, Kalika Municipality-4, was murdered near a brick kiln in Gaindakot Municipality-1, East Nawalparasi, on the night of October 23.
DSP Madhu Nepal of the East Nawalparasi District Police Office stated that a group of local youths attacked and killed the escaped inmate, Kumal.
He informed that five individuals have been arrested on suspicion of their involvement in the incident. The deceased, Kumal, was serving a jail-term for rape.
The court had sentenced him to 10 years in prison along with a fine of 35,000 rupees. He was arrested on July 18, 2017 and was due to be released in 2084 after completing his term.
Kumal had escaped after the vandalism that occurred at Bhimphedi Prison on September 9, 2025 during the Gen-Z uprising. According to the prison administration, he was urged to return voluntarily after his escape but did not come into contact with the prison.
