Injured tourist waiting for rescue in Manaslu area

A tourist has suffered injuries after he was hit by falling rock at Manaslu area. The injured tourist has been waiting for rescue for two days.

The tourist identified as 44-year-old Minuindra Lamsal from Tokha-6, Kathmandu was injured when a stone hit his head while he was returning from Samagaun, Chumanubri Rural Municipality-1.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajkumar Shrestha of the District Police Office said that there were difficulties in rescuing Lamsal as the helicopter could not fly due to adverse weather conditions.

"There is a serious injury on the head, and he could not be brought to the district headquarters with people carrying him since there could be further risk," DSP Shrestha said.

According to health worker Chhiring Khamdo Lama, who is providing primary care to Lamsal, Lamsal is awaiting rescue while receiving first aid.

Lamsal was injured when a stone fell from a cliff near Chumnubri–4 Bura and hit on his head while he was returning from Samagaun on Thursday.

Tourist buried by landslide
A foreign tourist was buried by a landslide that took place in the Manaslu region. The mishap took place near Chumanubri-3 where 54-year-old Katerina Raskova from the Czech Republic was buried, her trekking guide Ramesh Bhatta informed.

The incident reportedly took place at around 2:00 pm today on a cliff a little above the Nyak peak. “She was buried by a rock that fell from the cliff. Only her head is visible,” he said, “Her husband and I are safe.”

He said that there was a large group of tourists at the time that landslide took place. Assistant Chief District Officer Chitrangad Baral shared that police have been sent to the site for rescue.
