Former Education Minister Sumana Shrestha will not be joining the new political party being formed by Energy Minister Kulman Ghising.
Shrestha stated that although there was a desire for her to collaborate and move forward together, the conditions for co-operation are not right at the moment.
She extended her best wishes to Kulman Ghising for the establishment and operation of the new party, Sumana said, "He is a capable person, "The path for future collaboration will certainly remain open."
Shrestha had recently quit Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP). She had previously attempted to bring Ghising into RSP and make him the party president. However, after Ravi Lamichhane refused to step down from the presidency, Shrestha was preparing to launch a new party under Ghising's leadership and contest the election.
She also maintained her steadfast stance that the issues raised by the Gen Z uprising on September 8 and 9 must be institutionalized. She also emphasized the need to work to challenge the notion that Nepal experiences a political revolt every ten years.
When asked if the disagreement over the party's name was the reason for her non-participation, she replied, "The issue of the name is not that important. When forming a party, the people who make decisive decisions must be with the public. Position is not the main problem. All those who hold alternative views must unite."
Ghising and his colleagues, under the coordination of former Energy Secretary Anup Kumar Upadhyaya, are in the final stages of submitting an application to the Election Commission to register a party named 'Ujyalo Nepal'. The party has decided to use an electric light bulb as its election symbol.
