Veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra passed away in Mumbai at the age of 89 on Monday.
The octogenarian actor had been in and out of south Mumbai’s Breach Candy hospital for several days.
The cause of Dharmendra’s death has not yet been disclosed, but he had been unwell since November 1, when he was admitted to the hospital.
While his family has yet to issue an official statement on his death, an ambulance was seen leaving his residence and heading to a crematorium in Juhu. A large number of celebrities attended the funeral of the renowned actor, popularly known as the “He-Man of Bollywood,” according to Indian media reports.
From the Prime Minister and President, to Bollywood and sports personalities, tributes poured in for the legendry actor, whose film career spanned over six decades, starring in over 300 films.
Dharmendra is known for his memorable performances in films such as ‘Ayee Milan Ki Bela’, ‘Phool Aur Patthar’, ‘Aaye Din Bahar Ke’, ‘Raja Jani’, ‘Yaadon Ki Baaraat’, ‘Dost’, ‘Sholay’, ‘Dharam Veer’, among others.
His last film Ikkis is set to be posthumously released on December 25.
