Ruling Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has elected a 99-member Central Committee (CC) following its First General Convention held in Chitwan.
According to the final election results released by the party's Election Commission, the new committee includes 32 members from the open category. Notably, the convention achieved near-perfect gender parity, with 49 women successfully winning seats on the central body.
Vice-President Swarnim Wagle, who also serves as the country's Finance Minister, secured the highest number of votes in the central committee elections, sweeping a total of 2,656 votes. Wagle was followed closely in the vote tally by popular leaders Sobita Gautam, Shishir Khanal, and Sagar Dhakal. Following his election to the committee, Wagle was also unanimously elected as the party's Vice-President.
Rabi Lamichhane was unanimously re-elected as the Party President while current Prime Minister Balendra (Balen) Shah won the elections as the RSP's Senior Leader.
