Nepal-India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NICCI) and ICT Foundation Nepal signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance collaboration in strengthening Nepal’s information and communication technology (ICT) and startup ecosystem.

The MoU was signed by KM Singh, Director General of NICCI, and Razan Lamsal, President of ICT Foundation Nepal, on Monday at the NICCI Secretariat. The agreement marks a significant step toward fostering innovation, digitization, and entrepreneurship in Nepal through joint initiatives, according to NICCI President Sunil KC.

Under the partnership, NICCI and ICT Foundation Nepal will work together to create platforms that promote digital transformation, innovation, and startup development. A key focus of the collaboration will be the organization of a joint annual flagship event aimed at raising awareness of emerging trends, technologies, and opportunities in the ICT sector, the NICCI-ICT Foundation MoU reads.

The collaboration will also facilitate engagement with ICT experts from India and other countries, support policy research and recommendations, and encourage knowledge exchange. Both organizations plan to work on research publications, including sectoral reports, to strengthen evidence-based policymaking and help position Nepal’s ICT industry in the global market.

Leaders from both institutions expressed confidence that the partnership will be meaningful and productive, contributing to the long-term development of Nepal’s ICT ecosystem and inspiring young entrepreneurs to pursue opportunities in the digital economy.

ICT Foundation Nepal has been actively engaged for more than a decade in promoting digitization, innovation, and entrepreneurial development across the country. Through policy advocacy, capacity-building programs, and ecosystem development, the Foundation has played a vital role in supporting Nepal’s growing technology sector.

As a binational chamber, NICCI has been supporting the ICT and startup ecosystem through its Startup and Private Equity Committee, engaging stakeholders from academic institutions, industry, and the private sector. This partnership is expected to further advance NICCI’s objectives and contribute to the sustained growth of Nepal’s ICT sector.
