Scuffle and vandalism occurred at Child Correction Center in Madhyapur Thimi municipality-2, Sanothimi on Thursday night.
The scuffle between the two groups in the correction center turned to an incident of vandalism and arson.
A team headed by Chief of Thimi Police Circuit Nawaraj Dhungana reached the child correction center following the scuffle and attempted to bring the situation under control.
Both the groups who were involved in the scuffle had pelted stones at the police personnel mobilized in the incident site.
As many as 50 Armed Police Force personnel were mobilized when the situation went out of control. The fire engines of Bhaktapur and Kathmandu had doused the fire in the midnight.
Details of loss incurred at the center due to arson and vandalism are yet to be ascertained, the police circuit said.
The correction center has a total of 169 inmates, including 145 men and 24 women.
Although the situation has now come under control, a large number of security personnel are keeping vigil at the center.
