The organized crime and money laundering case registered against Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane in the District Court, Rupandehi will not be withdrawn immediately.
The Attorney General's Office had decided to withdraw the organized crime and money laundering case against Lamichhane. Accordingly, a letter was sent to the District Government Attorney's Office regarding the withdrawal of the case.
Based on the decision of the Attorney General's Office, the District Government Attorney's Office had submitted a petition to the District Court, Rupandehi to withdraw the case. However, the District Court has ordered to decide only after the writ filed in the Supreme Court regarding the withdrawal of the case is finalized.
A single bench of District Court Judge Shyamlal Ghimire ordered to submit the application to the District Court only after the writ pending in the Supreme Court is finalized.
Attorney General Sabita Bhandari had decided to withdraw the case of organized crime and money laundering against Lamichhane and other defendants on January 14. A writ petition was filed in the Supreme Court against that.
Moreover, in the hearing held in the Supreme Court on January 25, Attorney General Bhandari had claimed that additional evidence had been found after the case was registered. After that, a joint bench of Supreme Court Justices Manoj Kumar Sharma and Shrikant Paudel ordered the withdrawal of the evidence found.
Now, the Rupandehi Court will hear the petition to withdraw the case only after the Supreme Court decides on the writ petition. The district court order states, "Since the petition submitted is related to the same subject and is interrelated, it should be submitted as per the rules after the Supreme Court decides on the interim order in the writ petition."
