Martyr's Day observed at Lainchaur (photos)

Martyr's Day is celebrated by laying wreaths on the martyr's statue at the Martyr's Memorial in Lainchour, Kathmandu.

Prime Minister Sushila Karki paid her respects by placing floral wreaths at the shrine of martyrs in Lainchaur. The program organized by Kathmandu Metropolitan City was attended by Prime Minister Karki, ministers, high-ranking officials of the government, people's representatives and heads of security agencies.

Martyr's Day is celebrated every year on Magh 16 (January 30) in the memory of the pious Dharma Bhakta Mathema, Gangalal Shrestha, Shukra Raj Shastri and Dashrath Chand who sacrificed their lives against the Rana regime.

On the occasion of Martyr's Day, the government has given a public holiday across the country.
