Muktinath turns silver as snowfall blankets religious site (watch photos)

The snowfall has occurred in Baragung Rural Municipality in Mustang district.  The snowfall which started a few days ago continued till Tuesday, according to Santosh Basyal, Inspector of the District Police Office.

Muktinath area, a famous religious site, has been blanketed with the heavy snowfall, giving rise to the cold. However, the cold has not deterred the flow of tourists. Around 1,000 religious tourists including both from Nepal and foreign countries enter Mustang to pay homage to Muktinath on a daily basis, according to Basyal.

"Out of those who visit Muktinath Temple, 50 percent are Nepalis while the remaining 50 percent are foreigners. Similarly, Indians account for 90 percent among foreign tourists while 10 percent are from other countries," said Basyal.

Muktinath is a famous religious destination which is situated at an altitude of 3,800 meters above sea level in Mustang.
